Edward is a lawyer and patent agent with extensive experience in preparing, prosecuting, and managing patent portfolios across a wide range of emerging and complex technologies. His practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications covering innovations in technology areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, software systems, digital communication, robotics, medical devices, e-commerce, fintech, consumer products, and mobile technologies.

Edward advises clients from early-stage startups to multinational corporations on developing strategically aligned IP assets that support their business goals. His background in computer science, mathematics, and complex software architectures, combined with a deep understanding of engineering-focused technologies, enables him to work effectively with inventors and R&D teams across diverse industries. Edward regularly handles matters before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, specializing in patent drafting, responses to Office Actions, portfolio strategy, prior-art analysis, and coordination with foreign associates on global filings.

In addition to his patent practice, Edward maintains a robust trademark practice that includes preparing and filing trademark applications, managing prosecution before CIPO, and advising clients on clearance, brand strategy, and portfolio development. He works closely with businesses to build and protect strong, enforceable trademark portfolios that align with their commercial goals.

Outside of practice, Edward is active in the legal and IP community. He serves as a Regional Governor (Canada) of the International Association of Korean Lawyers and a board member of the Korean Legal Clinic. Edward is also a past chair of the Toronto Intellectual Property Group.
